Sun and art production
Students work in the studios (open 7 days a week, until 23:00 hrs) and make the most of all Metàfora’s large and wonderful outdoor patios, where anyone can comfortably set up an easel or a work table.

Program
WEEK 1
CLAY SCULPTING
Technical workshop to discover and understand the characteristics of the clay as a modelling, malleable material. You are gonna be able to make sculptures using different types of clay by both addition and subtraction techniques. Empty volumes from coil system, carving from a block or additing manner, even making thin works with internal skeleton required. Instructions for drying and cooking the sculptures.
CIANOTYPES
Cyanotypes is a photographic technique, using sunlight and a harmless chemical reaction. Discover “blue magic”. It is a slow-reacting, economical photographic printing formulation sensitive to a limited near ultraviolet and blue light spectrum, known as UVA radiation. It produces a cyan-blue print used for art as monochrome imagery applicable on a range of supports, and for reprography in the form of blueprints. The process uses only water to develop and fix.

WEEK 2
PRINTMAKING
Technical workshop for making a serial edition of a print. Printmaking is the process of reproducing professional copies of the same image by using artisanal printing techniques. In this workshop we will learn two techniques: Linocut and Drypoint Etching. Prints are created by transferring ink from a matrix to a sheet of paper with the help of a paper press. The resulting prints are usually part of a limited edition, numbered and signed.Usually we finish with a Printing Market Exchange between all the participants.
BODY MOLDS
Technical workshop using alginate as a flexible material for casting real human body parts and to get an hyperrealistic copy. Mold making tricks and casting materials and methods. Cleaning the copy, joining the parts and finishing for presentation. Discovering of this natural and healthy safe material for getting incredible reproductions directly from a real body.
