Final Year Exhibition and Thesis Presentation

June is a busy time at Metàfora: while everyone else is working on their academic paper, the students on the 3rd year prepare the final push of their training experience at Metàfora.

Every year for this event, our students are granted the use of a beautiful exhibition space (Espai 2) in the centre of Barcelona, belonging to the prestigious gallery Àngels Barcelona. This gallery is one of Barcelona’s most cutting edge institutions, representing both established and internationally known artists, and at the same offering valuable support to upcoming artists and curators.

This year’s exhibition “Apostrophe” featured work by 3 of our 3rd year students, Katerina Aschche, Aaron Salm and Lucy Costelloe. The opening night was very well visited by the general public and a range of representatives from Barcelona’s art world. Many interesting future events will come from the visit of local curators and artists seeking to collaborate with Metàfora’s graduating artists.

The day after the opening of the Final Year Exhibition a public event is celebrated at another of the city’s epic contemporary art hubs: Fundació Antoni Tàpies. Courtesy of the director and team at this amazing art foundation, our students present their thesis and final conclusions to the public in a beautiful and very well visited venue.
