Class Description
In this class, Piotr will introduce the world of watercolors and delve into the captivating realm of miniature painting. Drawing inspiration from close-up images of famous miniature artworks and newspaper photos, participants will explore the intricacies of this art form.
The course will cover various aspects, including color mixing, secondary and tertiary colors, and the exploration of brush marks. Factors such as the amount of paint on the brush, the speed of the stroke, the angle of the brush, and the type of brush used will all come into play. The nature of the paper will also be considered, along with techniques for stretching and toning the paper.
Furthermore, the class will be introduced to the works of contemporary artists who are associated with the theme of miniature painting. Participants will discover how repetitive miniature pattern paintings can create captivating and site-specific installations.
Through this class, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of watercolor techniques, delve into the realm of miniature painting, and explore the possibilities of this art form in creating unique and visually striking artworks.

Teacher, Painting and Drawing
Piotr Perski is a Polish painter, settled in Barcelona since 1998. In Barcelona he shows mainly at Galería Jordi Barnadas and Sala Parés.
He holds a BA Fine Art (Adam Mickiewicz, Poznan), an MA Fine Art (Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz) and a PhD, Fine Arts (University of Barcelona).

Students who take the short courses option will be provided with a working space and storage to use throughout their stay on the Metàfora Studio Arts program.
This workshop is open to all full-time students on the Studio Arts Program. Depending on availability, it is also available as a Pick and Choose workshop.
