What programs does Metàfora offer?
Metàfora offers a 3-year Studio Arts Program, as well as short-term and flexible options like the 6-week Studio Blocks.
What are the levels of the Studio Arts Program?
Metàfora offers a 3-year Studio Arts Program:
- Year 1: Foundation Program
- Year 2: Certificate in Studio Arts
- Year 3: Diploma in Studio Arts
Are there specific entry requirements?
- Foundation Program: No portfolio required.
- Certificate/Diploma: A portfolio and prior experience are necessary.
How long is each course?
Each year consists of 5 studio blocks, equating to one academic year.
Are classes taught in English? Yes, all classes and workshops are conducted in English.
What techniques can I learn? You’ll explore various mediums, including sculpture, welding, screen printing, installation, and performance.
Is Metàfora accredited? While it collaborates with renowned institutions, Metàfora is not university accredited.
About the school
- Do all students have a studio space?
All students on the Foundation Program of the Studio Arts Program are automatically allocated a studio space. Students at Advanced Level (Certificate and Diploma) can opt out of using a studio space. - I sometimes need a big space to work in…
All students can book project rooms in which to work for a few days at a time. These reservations are made on a first come, first served basis.
What happens on the first day of the Studio Arts Program?
You have signed up for the program, booked a place to stay in and have finally arrived to Barcelona! It’s a lot, we understand this. For this reason we make sure to accompany you as you start you new creative journey on the Studio Arts Program.
No matter if you are staying for one year or for just 6 weeks, the first day of every block always starts with what we call Input day:
- We will introduce you to our team
- Explain how the course works
- Give a tour to explore the school
- Allocate your studio spaces
- and have your first group tutorial with the tutor who will accompany you throughout your stay on the program
