Advanced, Intermediate or Initial level art student?

What kind of art student are you? What are the things you want to learn in an art school? What do you expect to get out of your stay? What is your level of ambitions?

There are many art school worldwide based on a not-very-flexible structure of classes and activities. Students in this type of schools are expected to go through the art training from A to B, and there is no alternative route or opportunities for those who think differently or who develop faster than others.

Roughly, you can talk about two different types of art training, two kinds of  key activities which supplement each other to professionalize an artist today.

One of these two types of art training is based on experiential learning, where tools & techniques are the order of the day. The art students travels through classes and workshops to acquire technical know-how of tradition and not-so-traditional ways in which artists have been working. This is where you will be taught to paint, where you will understand the basics of sculpture and learn about the proportions and poetry of the human body in unlimited intents to depict it.

A holistic art training will not end at this point though. Because, once you can draw something or master a specific technique, what are you going to do with that knowledge?
